The ATC Smith Memorial Trophy

The first Charity Race Day held in February 2007 also saw the launch of an annual competition for the ATC Smith Memorial Trophy which has become the winners trophy for this event.

The ATC Smith Memorial Trophy holds special significance for us at Smiths City. Tony Smith
passed away suddenly in March 2006. He had been
part of the Smiths City company and culture for 40 years and was a member of the original Smith family
that founded Smiths City Market way back in 1918.

The company had been looking for a way to honour Tony and his loyalty and commitment to Smiths City so the setting up of the Charitable Trust; the Charity
Race Day and providing the trophy for the annual event was an ideal opportunity to do this in Tony’s honour.
